Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization is used when scar tissue has formed in the fascia and caused patterns of dysfunction in the viscera. Scar tissue is often formed as a result of surgery, immobilization, repeated strain or injury. Therapists use tools to break up the tissue, which helps initiate healing. While it can be painful and is not for every client, it is an effective form of therapy that may allow full functional restoration to occur.
